Italian Leather teams the simplicity of green tomato leaf with the sophisticated beauty of leather, myrrh and vanilla absolute. A lucid dream. Hair wrapped in a scented scarf, off to explore the countryside. Green tomato leaf. One eye on the rear-view mirror of the convertible, a playful smile on the lips. Vanilla absolute. The red leather of the steering wheel brings a flush to the cheeks. Myrrh resin. Beauty stretches out lazily with each passing mile. Oil of pink pepper. An impromptu lover’s siesta in the seat of a cabriolet. Leather accord. The gentle glow of fire burning like a love potion. Italian Leather speaks the Italian of Rome, the one murmured in the ear.
It is a unisex leather fragrance that launched in 2013 and was created by Alienor Massenet. Italian Leather features top notes of leather, tomato leaf and vanilla; middle notes of tomato leaf, galbanum, orris root, labdanum and clary sage; and base notes of leather, vanilla absolute, benzoin, tolu balsam, myrrh, opoponax, sandalwood and musk. It is an eau de parfum, edp.
Fragrantica: A one-night-stand lover's leather coat with cigarette smoke clinging to it.
Fragrantica: Sexy salad. Perfect for the UK summer. An Italian dinner date with afters. Your boyfriend comes over and you make pizza, eat al fresco and make love on a blanket on the lawn on summer evening. I have Iris Malikan too. They are similar - that one is sweeter this is more savoury.
Fragrantica: this is my favorite leather fragrance even though i generally dislike leather in perfumes. what i love most about italian leather is the opening. it smells like you ripped off some greenery that grow on the side of the road. not sweet, not synthetic, not floral, not spicy, not like tomato leaf even though people seem to be sure it smells like tomato leaf. it just smells like freshly cut foliage. then it evolves into a sweet smelling leather. it's not too leathery like ombre leather is. i think it's not great for everyday wear because it's still a somewhat heavy smell and wouldn't suit every occasion. i would love to smell other memo leathers especially african, french, irish, and russian in the future. i would also love a fragrance just like italian leather but without the leather. i recommend giving it a try if you like leather and vanilla and green.
Fragrantica: A really great leather fragrance from Memo. MEMO is the best when it comes to leather scents. Italian leather takes a unique take on the opening of a leather scent with that tomato leaf scent. This provides a herbal opening to the scent making it more wearable and less harsh in my opinion. The leather note is quite strong, and honestly would majority of leather fragrances they smell similiar on the dry down. This is no different, other than the unique opening it’s just a solid leather scent for the rest of the time. It projects a decent amount, not as much as the African leather scent. It has insane longevity, literally lasts forever. I do think that this is a bit too costly, as there are other great leather scent alternatives at significantly lower prices such as Ombré leather from Tom Ford or the leather scents from Van Cleef and Arpel. Italian leather is a great formal wear scent, great for the winter and fall seasons. Scent: 9/ Projection: 8/ Longevity: 10/ Value: 6/ Overall: 8.5
Fragrantica: This might be my favorite fragrance. Tomato leaf, a bit of leather, a bit of vanilla. It sounds horrible but is absolutely perfect. Different than anything else, beautiful and subtle. To me it’s unisex, and as a man I may make this my main signature. The tomato leaf is green in an unexpected, juicy, not at all earthy way. It’s not overpowering, and could be worn anywhere outside maybe a nightclub, although I detest most fragrances that would work in a nightclub. I feel like on a man it’s over 30, smart, contemplative, not flashy, not mainstream. Something for an artist to wear. I bought the clone, Roman Leather, which is definitely close but also misses the magic of the perfect blending here. Will definitely go for a full bottle of the original.
Fragrantica: Beautiful and unique take on a green earthy leather fragrance, see for me the vanilla saves it, I’m not a person who only likes gourmands or anything but I do love these base notes. I like warm resinous/balsamic and vannilic amber type fragrances. This is super classy and high end smelling. The trail is better than smelling your arm.
Fragrantica: One of the best purchases I’ve ever made. Vegetal and green tomato leaves meets soft powdery vanilla. But the real MVP is the leather that starts to creep out about 90 minutes in. It helps it develop into the stuff dreams are made out of. A noticeable leather accord with a vanilla-iris thing going on in the background. But still maintaining the green opening, minus the sharpness. This would be my favorite fragrance of all time if the 2014 Valentino Uomo didn’t exist. This scent isn’t for everyone, the green note is sharp. And leather can become a little intense on the tail end of this fragrance (noticeably strong for projection, 7-9 hours) but for me, it combines everything I love about fragrance into 1 bottle.
Fragrantica: Never mind the vanilla and tomatoes, I LOVE it to bits! This one is green, animatic and leathery. I swear that I also get some hints of wood and moss in there with a bit of spice added in for good measure. You only need 2 squirts, as it is quite strong, with great silage, and can be worn all year round and in the evenings. This scent leans masculine but its slight flowery fragrance makes it easily wearable by women. The wearer is a confident and charming person, who is a little cheeky, but intriguing at the same time. And yes…. It oozes sex. Rating: 9/10
Fragrantica: From my personal points of reference, this smells like the neck of a gorgeous male lover who's been sitting in the sun, awaiting your arrival. He's freshly showered and shaved, and wearing a crisp tshirt and beautiful leather jacket. The fragrance notes list tomato leaf, and the green leaves and hairy stems of a tomato plant are certainly in the peppery green opening. However the dry down offers the sweet, sun-ripened flesh of the tomato fruit itself. Along with vanilla, orris root and musk, it conjures smooth, ripe, bitable flesh. While my associations of this bring to mind a handsome man, this perfume is perfectly genderless. I blind bought this perfume, being a tomato lover. Today is my first time of many to wear and love it. I will also encourage my husband to wear it. Unconventional, intriguing, and sensual.
Fragrantica: Veeeery luxurious leather. This is a leather scent that you can wear on summer evenings and not feel like you overdone. But it's not a sporty scent it's elegant in every possible way, it definitely lives up to its name - Italian leather. it is a heavier scent but it's not so dense that overpowers everything so it is easy to wear it during warmer seasons. I would just stick to evening time. The scent has a very nice sweetness that comes from the tomato leaves. And I love that note so much it is in no way a ketchup kind of note... No no no it's sweet and aromatic, it's inviting and caressing. Very nice. This is one of my favorite Memo scents. Definitely recommend this for men who like sweeter a bit heavier scents.
Longevity and projection is perfect!
