There's nothing like the sound of speed - loud and dirty - combined with the will to win. The checkered flags that wave the race cars in, the cheering crowd as the accelerator is floored, and later the popping of the champagne corks. There is nothing better than a day at the track - the wind in your hair, the joy on your faces and the beauty of these gleaming sports machines. Penhaligon's released Sports Car Club, a limited edition fragrance, just in time for the 2022 Formula One World Championships. So, before you fasten your seat belt and start your engines, apply this gorgeous patchouli-enhanced fragrance that evokes the scent of freshly cut grass.
This is a limited edition fragrance that is sold out everywhere. Timeless and elegant in classic Racing Green, Sports Car Club features top notes of pine and pink pepper; middle notes of eucalyptus and cypress; and base notes of Ambroxan, patchouli and musk. It is an eau de parfum, edp.
Man For Himself: What a launch from Penhaligon’s! Sports Car Club is very much the modern-day fougère fragrance; and one that I’ve loved wearing. It’s bright and fresh but with a complex, earthy base. The pine and pink pepper opening has a beautiful, sparkling quality – as if warmed by the sun. If you like an airy, herbal – almost medicinal – scent, you will love the eucalyptus note in Sports Car Club.
Penhaligon's: I ordered the sample first to test it out and I was not let down one bit. I've been wearing both Opus 1870 as well Juniper Sling for some years now and are still my favorite fragrances but I have to admit Sports Car Club is an instant hit. My wife really enjoyed it as well as my two sons which now I have to share with, but that's okay. I enjoyed the notes of pepper and eucalyptus and what I thought was a pine is actually a patchouli note all around a great fragrance and would recommend it for sure!!!
Fragrantica: Spicy sweet freshness!! It starts a bit like old drugstore camphor candies, (yes I’m that old), sweet but medicinal, still very likable… but the magic begins on the drydown… it’s all about a spicy sweetness from the pink pepper, the ambroxan and the musk, which together with the eucalyptus create a recipe for perfection. This perfume is not so sweet as to make it only a cold day scent, and also not so fresh as to make it only a sporty fragrance. In reality Sports Car Club is a very well balanced juice ideal to be used preferably daytime, in any season and in any weather. I really liked it very much!! Unfortunately projection is very limited, almost intimate and requires reapplying in order to last throughout the day.
Fragrantica: I had a difficult time wrapping my nose around what notes I was experiencing. Even now, after reading the notes - I still don't truly recognize any of them individually as I sniff my wrists. But this is not a negative. This is a fresh, day scent - male oriented, easy-to-wear (fine for office, etc). It's another easy-to-wear Penhaligon for men - which seems to be one of the strengths of this house. Definitely worth a sample!
Fragrantica: In the opening, I get a clean pine note mixed with a sort of peppery woodiness, with some sweetness. It kind of smells like it has vetiver in it due to its fougère notes. The longevity is adequate for a fresher type of scent. I get about 4-5 hours with projection for about 2 hours. I will need to sample this one a bit more to give a better description, but right now I would say that if you like the smell of The Inimitable William Penhaligon (from the Portraits collection), definitely don't sleep on this one. It smells very similar to me with a lower price tag and a larger bottle size. Good old-school scent, really well done, worth a sample at least. Let's hope they keep this one around!
