Whisper Your Bitter Things is a gourmand, spicy and floral fragrance. It feels like studying with your crush at the coziest coffee shop when you know they're into you. There’s a place for the bitter and the dark. Be as dark and dramatic as you want. The rich scent of roasted coffee beans flirts with intoxicating jasmine and bitter orange flower, and gets spicy with cassia and clove. Roasted vanilla pods add a caramelized, smoky depth. Warm, complex and wearable, this scent features notes of pressed coffee beans, dried clove bud, cassia bark, jasmine and neroli blossoms and roasted vanilla pods. Whisper Your Bitter Things is a water perfume.
POESIE WHISPER YOUR BITTER THINGS REVIEWS (Based on reviews of the oil version)
Reddit: The first impressions one gets from “Whisper Your Bitter Things” is the coffee: a mug, hot and dark, without any gourmand notes. This is coffee straight from the bean. Despite the gothic descriptions House Poesie provides, I found the experience quite different. As “Whisper” progresses, the scent lightens. Middle notes of cinnamon, neroli (white floral) and jasmine arise. One is sitting in a coffee house, either alone or across the table from a good friend. Few words are exchanged, instead one savors the mood. Perhaps this is a summer night, with a faint flowery sweetness to the air. Perhaps it is a winter morning with small table bouquets, flowers grown in a hothouse to remind one spring is coming. Here is optimism. One relaxes into the moment, hands warmed by the mug, mind peaceful and at ease. As the fragrant journey settles to its final stage, the raw vanilla and cinnamon notes come into play. While longevity isn’t quite as much as one might hope, the projection is modest, enough that one’s coworker might notice, but not so much that it would overwhelm anyone. Sillage is subtle, but adds a soothing coffee house vibe even after one has left the room.
Reddit: I thought I was doing reviews tonight, but just said “holy shit” out loud when I put this on, then applied it all over myself. No more reviews tonight, people, pack it up; I want to go to bed smelling like this. It’s absolutely warm, medium roast coffee, but it’s also woody, vanilla toasty, and just the teensiest, most tolerable bit floral. It’s not downright sweet, but it’s definitely food and I’d say it leans feminine. I haven’t even read Wuthering Heights and I’m SO crazy about this scent. I’m brought right back to being at college the first year far away from home somewhere very cold, and not being able to sleep at night, and wandering to the donut shop at 4am because they were the only place open, and standing there under the fluorescent lights staring at all the hot pastries, and only ordering a very large vanilla coffee, and marching right back to campus, waving at the one patrol cop in town who I’m pretty sure thought I was crazy. I felt like a lone, poor wolf in a thrifted jacket in a very rich, white town, but I felt like I could take on the world and nothing could prevent me, because I didn’t care anymore. That all might sound not so amazing to be taken back to, but… as I get older, it’s precious to be able to recall events in my life that happened ten or even twenty years ago now, and this perfume let me remember. I think I’m going to cry again, a little. My Rating: 9/10, I was TRYING not to make another Poesie order until the spring collection dropped and then I’d do it all at once, but apparently that’s not happening.
Poesie: Such a great realistic coffee scent. I love that this isn’t too sweet, it’s more on the bitter side (in a good way). The vanilla comes through more in the dry down after several hours. Personally, I don’t really detect the florals that much, but that could be due to my skin chemistry. Overall, I love it. Also, the parfum smells identical to the perfume oil so that's great.
Poesie: I got a sample of this with my order and it is divine! The coffee isn’t too forward, it’s the perfect amount. The vanilla and floral notes balance it really well. I like that it doesn’t smell like a full on super sweet cup of coffee with sugar. It smells more like a coffee shop, it’s layered and cozy smelling. Love it!
