Reddit: This one really surprised me. I normally am not a fan of florals, but the bergamont, oudh, and nutmeg made this my favorite of the Fall 2016 bunch. The nutmeg adds warmth without being overwhelmingly like cookies or baked goods. Smelling it wet, the scent is floral but in a way that very fresh and green, like sticking your face into a blooming flower pot. Its very floral, yes, but it manages to head straight into darkly feminine and mysterious rather than the powdery, cloying territory that I dislike about "old lady"-ish floral scents. I assume this green note is from the belladonna. A couple hours later I found that a lot of the fresh, floral scent faded into a beautiful oudh-ey musk. Overall this is a very sexy, powerfully dark and weird scent. It makes me feel like a witch walking through the wilderness at night with my cape trailing behind me.
Reddit: What really excited me about this one was the belladonna, as I’ve heard it has a peppery and tomato-leafy sort of scent. I am also a massive fan of bergamot and nutmeg, so my hope was for a resinous floral. Despite it smelling actually fairly close to what its description is, I’m not a huge fan. Don’t get me wrong, this perfume actually smells really lovely and if I met someone who was wearing it, I would think they smelled really good! But, it’s just not what I want to smell like. I was hoping for something more resinous, and this is pretty much just straight up florals. It is a somewhat spooky, darker floral which I really like. The peppery belladonna comes out after about 30 minutes on me, but it still maintains a crisp freshness. Think of a witch’s garden at dusk after a light rain. It’s pleasant, a little mysterious, but in my honest opinion - a little generic. I feel like the NEST perfumes smell fairly similar. Just a nice, musky, crisp floral with a little something extra, but not something extra enough. Breakdown: This one is a fairly simple 60% fresh floral, 30% crisp botanical (more green scent than flower scent) and 10% peppery. Nice! But a bit simple.
Basenotes: Bridget Bishop is a green floral that accentuates the tomato leaf stem bitterness of deadly nightshade by tying it to a parched talcum powder note that hangs it out to dry even further. More than a little soapy, the scent’s cool freshness makes for a welcome respite from the muggy heat of summer. The Ambroxan in the base adds a dry, salty crackle that makes me think – briefly – of aftershave. However, the woody dryness is not over-done. It merely hovers in the background, supporting the crisp floral notes and buckets of airy green starch. This is not a particularly feminine scent. A man who wears Chanel No. 19 can surely wear Bridget Bishop.
Indie Scent Library: A really good, grounded floral for people who don’t like florals. I loved this- I could smell flowers but they weren’t too heady. Very atmospheric- really felt like walking through a flower garden at night.
