Description

Lycanthrope was released as part of Sixteen92's Friday the 13th Collection (originally released April 13, 2018). It is a supernatural animalic with a woody, green and earthy base. Reminiscent of dense forest undergrowth, rocky underground dens and deep woods after a storm. Lycanthrope is a legend of ancient origin and is known by other names - wolf-man, werewolf, loup-garou, Nahual or Rougarou. His scent is inky, animalic, warm and dark green; dense forest roots, dusty fur, and the eerie light of a full moon piercing a stormy sky. Lycanthrope features notes of monkshood, warm fur, tuber, elm bark, artemisia, galbanum, weathered rock and silver moonlight.  Lycanthrope is a parfum.

Sixteen92 produces small-batch fine fragrance inspired by history, literature, lore and magic.

SIXTEEN92 LYCANTHROPE REVIEWS

As the Final Page Turns: "In the bottle: Realistic RAIN DRENCHED MOSS, STONE, DAMP BARK and an impression you are being watched from the partially moonlit shadows. Applied: Whoever said Friday the 13th was unlucky obviously doesn't collect perfume oils or ever had the opportunity to come across Lycanthrope because this is a scent masterpiece and a lucky find indeed! You know an oil is exceptional when you close your eyes and are immediately swept away to another place or time and Lycanthrope is one of the most transporting bottles I currently own. Scent is suggestive (in many ways) but for me, this opens with wet stones against ancient trees and you can hear the rumble of thunder in the distance and the leaves rustling with the stirred wind. For those of us who love nothing more than staring up at the moon late at night and feeling some kind of unexplainable pull, this perfume can serve as the perfect backdrop. As this oil dries, the darkness of the notes intensify and it reminds me of The Castle of the Hill (also by Sixteen92) but Lycanthrope is strangely warmer and more inviting. There are also additional mineral and green notes that lurk within this unique fragrance which become noticeable at certain times and for some reason, I feel protected whenever I wear this. I like to think this special oil as a talisman against negative thoughts and I seek it out if I feel apprehensive or need a restful day (or night) of sleep. It really is a soothing almost pensive blend for anyone who favours enigmatic atmospherics."

Reddit: "My overall impression is of cool, wet greenery with something dark and rooty. It’s sort of sharp and herbal with a mineral component. I did not expect it to smell so wet- it’s almost watery, like in a Disney dark ride kind of way? It’s very unique and I keep feeling compelled to sniff it again and puzzle it out. It smells so fresh, green and alive. There is a soft musk underneath. Leans masculine, very unique."

Reddit: "In the bottle: Like faceplanting into an evil herb garden. Not mad. 10/10 would sleep here drunk. Wet on skin: Wow, it literally smells silvery. Not metallic, quite, but Like Silver. The herbs are draped over the silver, but it really smells silvery. WITCHCRAFT After drydown: This is reminding me of something and I can’t put my finger on what (taking a shot every time I say that in my reviews would make for an excellent drinking game). It might be Welcome to Burkittsville, but I could be making that up. On me it goes very stingingly herbal as it dries, ending up with a dead, dried leaf kind of feel, but still with that fascinating “silver” note. I really wonder what that accord is, it’s so unique and weird and pleasant. I won’t hunt down a FS of this but if you’re looking for a werewolf scent that smells like a silver bullet, this is the one for you. It’s SO cool."

Reddit: "At the beginning when wet, it smelled more like delicate flowers (the monkshood, aka wolfsbane) with a bit of greenery and musk (from the fur). As it dries, the greenery amps up a lot, sort of like moss and fresh leaves. It also comes out with a stone scent and a sort of wetness, like early morning mists or dew. This sort of goes back and forth between being sort of warm (I guess from the fur) and cool and fresh (probably moonlight, maybe from one of the plants?). There’s also a slight touch of something almost powdery, that little touch off or dusty."

Simple response, Lycanthrope is one of the most transporting bottles I currently own and in my top 3 list from Sixteen92."

Indie Scent Library: "This is a lovely, smooth, dark scent. Like extinguished incense in a forest, cool wisps of something mysterious winding around herbs and stone, curling up into the sky."

Indie Scent Library: "Lycanthrope is a very green, slightly musky, silvery scent. On my skin I get a lot of the earthy mineral dirtiness of the tuber, lots of herbaceous wild plants, a musky fuzzy fur scent that’s super addictive, and worn stone. This scent is cool and smooth and close to earth, and to me has some masculine herbal musk tones."
