Description

The industrious beavers have built an impenetrable fortress in a quiet section of a small lake, deep within the woods. This hidden lodge is warm, dry and perfectly protects its inhabitants from the harsh winter conditions outside. Hidden Lodge is a dry woody blend with traces of spice and smoke and delicate animalic undertones. The dry wood portion of this fragrance is comprised of a number of fragrance and essential oils. Sandalwood, copal bark, cedar and amber combine with additional wood aromas to produce a diffusive, warm, dry foundation for this scent. The addition of the woodsmoke with just a bit of nutmeg and clove enhances the incensy, slightly sweet woods. A touch of a botanical castoreum blend conveys a very subtle but enjoyable animalic hint and natural oud adds a rich and intoxicating body to the total composition. Hidden Lodge smells very incensy, warm, woodsy, smoky, slightly spicy and even has a bit of well-worn leather on the skin. Solstice Scent's website states that this is unisex leaning masculine. I really like it but I do like masculine scents sometimes even more than feminine ones so it's hard for me to say it leans masculine. Hidden Lodge features notes of dry wood blend, oud, woodsmoke, spices and castoreum (botanical interpretation).

Created by Angela St. John as part of a collection of fragrances based on the fictional town of Foxcroft, Maine. Hidden Lodge is an eau de parfum, edp.

SOLSTICE SCENTS HIDDEN LODGE REVIEWS

Fragrantica: On initial application I got a whole lot of dry cedar and some whiffs of spices. It gradually settles down to a very woody amber mix. I do get a hint of the animalic undertones. It has lasted for almost 24 hrs on my skin although faint now, but impressive. I find it to be very sexy and addicting. It seems very masculine to me. I can see how some say it’s a fall scent but I wore it on the first day of spring and thought it fit nicely.

Fragrantica: Sweetly spicy woods and incense! The castorum adds a sexy leather-wood smell. It's both comforting and sexy, yes unisex. The oud is there but dialed down and not funky-- just adds more depth. On my skin, as it progresses it becomes sweeter, with an almost berry quality added to the woods, and an echo or whisper of Thornwood Thicket. Highly recommend for the incense lover looking for a twist.

Fragrantica: It really, really does smell like a beaver's nestled away home! I get equal amounts woody and animalic. The wood smells dry and the animalic smells like sleek, oily fur. The nutmeg and clove can be readily apparent if you know that they're in there, yet otherwise quietly support the woody and animalic vibes. This does lean masculine. As a woman wearing this, it does seem like it nullifies your gender momentarily. I get transported to a far off cabin where the internal interests of either productivity and/or repose trump any other considerations of being noticed from the outside. It's like you're blending and camouflaging with the outdoor surroundings, as our animal kin tend to harmonize with nature. Beautifully interesting!
