Description

The scent of sun-baked sweet clover lining old Florida lime rock back roads has a coumarin-rich, vanilla and soft sugar cookie aroma with hints of tonka bean and a very light white floral aroma vaguely reminiscent of white morning glory "moonflowers". The green scent of ripped clover leaves and the snap of fresh picked sweet clover stems pairs with a fresh, airy mimosa and moringa flowers. The wood smoke is faint, distant and sweet, very delicate. It wraps around the green, gourmand and pale floral notes in a pleasant and subtle manner.

Sweet Clover & Wood Smoke is a gentle fragrance. It opens with a pop of green that gives way to the coumarin heavy notes. A sugar cookie aroma remains soft but gets slightly stronger as it wears. A tender fragrance. Though this perfume contains floral components, it is not floral-forward. Sweet Clover & Wood Smoke features notes of sun-baked sweet clover flowers, coumarin, green clover leaves, mimosa flowers, moringa blossoms, limerock road and sweet delicate wood smoke. It is an eau de parfum, edp.

Created by Angela St. John as part of a collection of fragrances based on the fictional town of Foxcroft, Maine.

SOLSTICE SCENTS SWEET CLOVER & WOOD SMOKE REVIEWS

cafleurebon: In mid-August, the trees on the distant mountain outside my New Jersey home began an all-too-eager transformation. Outlining a lush and lazy green valley still in the swing of summer, these overzealous onlookers re-emerged over a summer night in autumnal hues of red, brown and orange. Turncoats. With my bare feet still in green grass, I observed this elemental shift, wishing I could stop time and bottle the remaining days of summer. Sweet Clover and Wood Smoke, the new release from Angela St. John, the creative powerhouse behind Solstice Scents, captures in a bottle the carefree days of summer with careful recognition to golden hues ahead. Already an ardent fan of Angela St. John’s creations, this artful description was enough for me to add this release to my online shopping cart. A story in a bottle and true to its inspiration, Sweet Clover & Wood Smoke opens with lush, misty morning-wet clover, bundled with a spray of mimosa flowers and moringa blossoms. The opening is hopeful and smile-inducing, like the smile you’d give a child who’s picked for you a bouquet of flowers, her hands fragrant with stemmy greenness. In the midsummer heart of the fragrance, the morning dewiness subsides as if to suggest sun-dried grass with patches of hay. The note of lime-rock adds a flinty earthiness counterbalanced by a cozy sweetness from coumarin and a bakery vanilla, like walking a gravel driveway, bouquet in hand, to return to the smells of home. All the while, somewhere in the distance, green turns to gold. The opening and heart of the deftly-composed Solstice Scents Sweet Clover and Wood Smoke portray an easy, airy summer season which evolve to the first glimpses of fall. It portrays reality through a fairytale haze, verdant and blithe. This fragrance is quite long-lasting and our journey is predominantly spent in the bliss of a seemingly endless summer. But of course, summer is never endless. In the air, there’s the eponymous wood smoke that, thankfully, when combined with the creamy vanilla sweetness, is comforting rather than melancholic. The passage of time can be a daunting reality. Solstice Scents Sweet Clover and Wood Smoke is a reminder that it can also be an opportunity to express gratitude for the pleasures of life, the beauty which surrounds us and the hope of what’s to come.

Fragrantica: I came across it while hunting for grassy scents last summer, and although I wasn't looking for smoke, it's an absolutely lovely addition. Since I collect red clover flowers for tea I really love their fragrance and I definitely get it in here. It's like lying in a meadow full of clover and wild grasses, with the smoke from a distant yard fire on the breeze.

Fragrantica: This is like the perfect fall gourmand! It’s warm and spicy and not too sweet. Smells like cooking cinnamon bread is a rustic old kitchen with a warm fire going. There’s also a warm woody note which I adore. I love this perfume!

Fragrantica: Spiced pumkpin and peach bread. Literally. Because of the spices it kinda reads as spiced apple cake or something like that but after reading the notes - yep that makes sense. Great fall gourmand. Yum!!

Fragrantica: Deliciously sweet and spiced warm pastries!! Smells like someone is baking pumpkin bread with vanilla icing on top. Not much peach here. The drydown is a smoky, woody, caramel pumpkin scent.

Reddit: Another example of why I keep trying SS. This is a lovely sweet, smoky, slightly green scent that I've been loving so much for a transitional summer-into-fall scent. I really need to grab a larger size before it sells out and goes away for the season. I tried the EDP, but I'm considering getting a bottle of the oil because I don't think I would mind the dustiness in this scent (I feel this way about Manor too).
