Tauer Perfumes L'air du Desert Marocain was launched in 2005, created by Andy Tauer - originally made as a lighter version of Le Maroc Pour Elle. It is a spicy blend with top notes of coriander and bitter orange; middle notes of jasmine and citrose; and base notes of cedar and vetiver. L'Air du Desert Marocain is an eau de toilette intense, EDT. It has become a reference point for fragrances as it takes you to another place, time. A Masterpiece.

Fragrantica- "It really paints the picture of standing in the middle of a bustling spice market: chaotic scents coming from every direction and someone's burning incense. There's a sweet, almost floral undertone to the spices, though, something I didn't pick up the first time, that calms down the busyness of the woody coriander. It's an amazing scent. I absolutely understand why this is a legend in the perfume community."
Fragrantica - "I needed some aromatic desert air; the kind that hits you with a blast of scorched heat which you can feel deep inside your lungs the moment you swallow it down. So, I reached for L'Air du Desert Marocain and I have no regrets. It never fails to take me on a journey and not just an olfactory one. L'Air du Desert Marocain is an all encompassing sensory journey. It is pyramids of aromatic spices lining the streets of a bustling Moroccan market, the aroma of which is amplified by the fierce heat of the sun combined with blistering hot sand."
Fragrantica - "Gorgeous dry dusty spicy ambery scent. Pure art in a bottle. Words will not do this justice."
Fragrantica - "LDM is by itsself a ticket to another world, i cannot say is a desert world as i never been in a desert but for sure this is a parfume that gives you something more than just smelling great (after 5 mins lol). The price of the fragrance is ok for what it gives especially if you consider how many fragrances at this price are just plain and boring. So this is the art of perfumery."
Fragrantica - "Tauer's L'air du desert marocain today is a superlative and complex scent, although not quite as distinctive as I had imagined. It has the profile of many Oud-based scents, although there is no actual Oud involved - basically it seems to contain many of the same scaffolding of spices and resins. It's the sharp and bitter spiciness that hits you first, before those spices are smoothed out by vetiver. The interesting thing is that none of these elements entirely disappear as the scent, instead they are supplemented, and the fragrance stays layered and seems to increase in complexity, while never becoming too heavy."
Fragrantica - "This bottle contains, black magic, voodoo, a genie in a bottle. I have never ever come across a fragrance akin to this. My comments above sill stand, but oh boy wait 30-60 minutes (maybe less), and this transforms into something that is just highly addictive. I have on my left wrist this fragrance, and on my right wrist Frederic malle’s Musc Savuegr (which is Devine by the way), and I can’t stop smelling this fragrance, so much that because I only sprayed I once, I got up and sprayed my wrist a few more times, I just put up with the 20 minutes of Jasmine Poop, and await the mesmerising smell afterward. This is truly an amazing work of art, I can’t explain it, but it just is!"

I have never been to the Sahara desert. I have never been to a Moroccan spice market/souk. And yet, 10 seconds into this fragrance and I’m in the Sahara desert very near a Moroccan spice market. Amazing… 10 seconds and I get Valentino murmuring “Come with me to the Kasbah.” The first note of No 02 L'AIR DU DÉSERT MAROCAIN (EDT intense-unisex) is simply desert sand. But this head note is not the desert sand of my American Southwest. This head note is the vast swirling desert sand of the Sahara. The Sahara sand note is then almost immediately followed by a riotous jumble of sweet (petit grain-steam distillation of bitter orange tree) and exotic (coriander, cumin and many more) notes that are almost certainly coming from a Moroccan spice souk. The heart notes of warm rock rose and jasmine were there for me from the beginning and the notes stayed with me for the next 10 hours. The body notes are of sturdy dry cedar with vetiver and a fine ambergris in the background. Just like the finest camel, these body notes carried this precious elixir for 10 blissful hours. ANDY TAUER No 02 L'AIR DU DÉSERT MAROCAIN is indeed a 5 star masterpiece. Enjoy! FYI- I received ANDY TAUER NO. 2 L’AIR DU DESERT MAROCAIN from the Surrender to Chance web site. The EDT was included in the sampler pack “9 Best Niche Perfumes for a Beginner”. Thank you STC.

My friend gave me a bag of samples to start off my perfume fascination and this is the first one that made me buy a bigger sample. I have to say...I think it will be the first full size bottle I purchase as well. It's gorgeous. It smells both earthy and spiritual, and not a bit flowery. Herbal, wooded, and dry at first, with a long warm breeze of sandalwood in the dry down.
What is it with this stuff? - I like it. - No, I don't. Not at all. - Now I love it. - No! Put it away! - I'll just buy one more decant. If I spray this two feet away from myself I can't stop inhaling it. Warm and mysterious. I can't wear it on my neck, though. It has something to do with that resinous smell.
First, I love this scent, but... As a guy I don't know if it's really a man's scent, or if I would prefer it on a woman. I guess that's why it's considered "unisex". But since my wife won't wear it, I will because I like the smell. The opening is a sweet, almost too much, but then the smell of aged wood comes in - I'm not sure what kind of wood - it's a musty smell which again is almost too much, but as the dry down continues, a powdery smell settles in, all of that comes together to leave a mysterious calm feeling. I've never been to the Moroccan Desert, but I can definitely imagine being there when I smell this. I would really love to find something like this with a little sharper edge - not too sharp - that would be more masculine, but for now, I'll enjoy this.
Elegant, alluring, perfection.
Dry; I understand the "desert" in this perfume's name. It has a presence. It immediately attracts my attention. Not quite like anything else. I really enjoy wearing this.
I am amazed by this magnificent scent. It is warm, classy and elegant. I only have a 1/2ml vial so I can't really really judge on some aspects like sillage, because I can't really give it a full wearing. Nontheless, longevity is pretty good, not beast, but acceptable. I've never been to the desert, but I can see the point of some people comparing this to the dessert's warmth, the dryness of sand and the spiciness of the middle east. Not a compliments magnet, rather a scent you must enjoy yourself.
Simply gorgeous. My husband like wearing this just as much as I do.
This smelled very masculine to me, at first, but after a few minutes, it developed into a gorgeous, smokey rose! I would wear this in certain places, but I don't consider it an everyday perfume. Beautiful, when applied lightly!
Every time I get an order of samples, the first thing I do is open every single one and take a sniff - without dabbing, without spraying. Yes, this is dumb. But it helps me prioritize what to try first. When I sniffed L'air, it was like being transported into an African spice market. You get the hot sun, the drying spices, the wind, leather a little cracked from overexposure, and some human skin. IT'S GORGEOUS. Caveat: I almost always prefer unisex or slightly masculine fragrances. YMMV of course. But for me this is just perfect.
This is an unusual fragrance, mostly satisfying, to my mind. The opening does bother me-- to medicinal. But the middle and drydown are lovely, with the final amber not more complex than most ambers. It reminds me of Tobacco Vanille, and also Guerlain's L'Instant Extreme for men, with that lemon note. I am glad to have experienced this one, though I guess it's not in my top five or ten, and so I wouldn't purchase it.
...in the start. More agreeable in the drydown. If it is the smell of angels, they must be male, and very much so, too. Completely masculine in my feminine nose.
Incense and rose fabulously blended, a scent of dreams and mysticism that take you on a journey to an oriental bazaar, with a view to an endless desert. This must be the smell of angels, and will turn you into one among the mortals. And as the angels, this scent have no sex, so it can be used by both men and women. Directly to my top 5 favorite perfumes...
Puts the "mmmm" in Marocain. If you like Mitsouko and Shalimar, try this for something more modern but equally melancholy/sensual.
this is a quiet and dry fragrance, not juicy, but layers of incense and change.
I wear this EDT on weekends to be transported to another place. It is intense and lasts forever.
How can I say this....ummm, da ladies love it? If you're a single guy who is looking for a masculine and sexy cologne then you should buy this.
