Description

A desert is any large, extremely dry area of land with sparse vegetation. It is one of Earth's major types of ecosystems, supporting a community of distinctive plants and animals adapted to the harsh environment. One of the biggest variables in desert scents is the type of vegetation and, of course, the season. In the Spring, some deserts are alive with fragrance wildflowers. Even during very dry periods, the smell of creosote is strong in places where it grows. The daisy family is the most diverse plant family in deserts overall along with perennial grasses and trees and shrubs are found in some desert environments. A few large, common, conspicuous plants provide deserts with much of their regional character. In North America, the Sonoran Desert of northwestern Mexico and the adjacent areas of California and Arizona are dotted with large cacti, especially the tall saguaro, while to the north in the cooler Mojave Desert the characteristic Joshua Tree is found. The Creosote Bush is common in both areas. The spiny, spinifex grasses typify Australian deserts, while fleshy, cactus-like species of Euphorbia are located in parts of southern and eastern Africa.

Desert smells can range from dry and arid to moist and floral. In the Sonoran Desert when it rains, especially during the monsoons in the summer, there is the most gorgeous scent created by the Creosote Bush (Chaparral) that is absolutely intoxicating.

You will receive a 1/2ml sample (1ml sample vial filled half full) of each of the fragrances in this sampler.

  1. Adventuress Soap Co. Joshua Tree Perfume Oil – cactus flower and agave
  2. Death and Floral Painted Fires EDP - Dry desert rose & dusty ground, sweet summer citrus, leftover bonfire ash, white sage distilled in New Mexico, sun-warmed ghostly glow.
  3. Juniper Ridge Desert Wilderness Cologne - Desert transports you by the sweet resinous notes of the desert, with its ancient stones, golden light, and a little mystery. Created using 100% plant-based ingredients, it celebrates the spirit of adventure and the fleeting nature of those precious moments. With notes of incense cedar tincture, pinon pine resin tincture, creosote tincture, Baja sage essential oil, sagebrush essential oil, black sage essential oil and California juniper essential oil.
  4. Sixteen92 Groom Lake Parfum - Groom Lake was released as part of Sixteen92's Friday the 13th Collection (originally released September 13, 2019). It is an otherworldly juxtaposition of boundless desert skies and manufactured isolation. This fragrance is cryptic and transcendental. A desolate industrial atmospheric that is reminiscent of hot nighttime highways in the desert; it's simultaneously organic and mechanical, and is very wearable despite sounding pretty weird. Groom Lake features notes of arid scrub, creosote, empty night sky, yucca bloom, high desert air, aircraft fuel, barbed wire, dim fluorescent hum, Element 115, sanitized metal and ||||||||| REDACTED |||||||||
  5. Aether Arts Perfume Burner Perfume No. 6 Reflection Voile de Parfum - Reflection opens with the scent of sage and the ozone of the approaching storm. As the rain falls, subtle florals begin to emerge, the desert plants expressing their gratitude by flowering. A mélange of cactus flowers, sage and yucca blooms. A hint of rain-washed cedar and mesquite floats on the air. For a moment you experience a profound contradiction: it is dry and it is wet, it is barren and it is blooming. It is water on the desert. Burner Perfume No. 6 Reflection features top notes of sage, ozone and rain; middle notes of yucca blossom accord, cactus flower accord and sage blossom accord; and base notes of Texas cedar and mesquite wood accord.
  6. Adventuress Soap Co. Mojave Perfume Oil – desert ghost flower
