This sampler gives you fragrances that are reminiscent of the scent of soaked earth/dampened soil. Soil is a thin covering over the Earth's surface. It is a mix of eroded rock, mineral nutrients, rotting organic matter, water, air and lots and lots of small living organisms. The top layer of soil called the Surface Litter Layer and the next layer down, the Topsoil Layer or Humus, are full of that great earthy scent. This is a very popular note in fragrances today. When the note is "dampened", the scent of the soil is heightened. Christopher Brosius of CB I Hate Perfume says: “Dirt is still a note I use in a lot of my work. I've always thought dirt resonates so strongly with everyone because at some point in everyone’s childhood everyone has played in the dirt.” Of course, Brosius points out, the dirt you grew up in might be very different from the dirt that I played in, so olfactory recollection varies enormously, which is why CB I Hate Perfumes makes close to half a dozen fragrances with strong dirt notes. “The smell itself is so archetypal,” he says. “So it's always recognized and loved.”
You will receive a 1/2ml sample (1ml sample vial filled half full) of each of the fragrances in this sampler.
- Moonlight Cove Finery For Love of Dark Things Perfume Oil - For those with fondness of the dark, and the creatures who roam in its mysterious realm. For fog on dark, lamp-lit streets, and grand Gothic mansions; for deep, haunted forests and fae of the night. Where the blackest flowers grow, dark-winged things fly, and tales of tragic love are born. Deep, resinous woods and black roses, damp earth and mist. Black cloves, lush velvet and smoky leather. Spiced sangria, oakmoss and moonlit petals. Black plums, blood orange, dark amber musk and incense.
- Moonlight Cove Finery Shallow Grave Perfume Oil - Lost beneath the layers of time, consciousness fades, decays, rots like fallen wood. Lost, but only hidden; the embers of the soul still smolder, forgotten below this hasty veil - the shallow grave. The scent of upturned soil and roots, damp leaves and moss. Rain and stone, misty pine wood, earthy fungi, and the subtle tang of decay. Ambery resin and a hint of peach, and gentle flowers - of the innocence, life and purpose left behind, waiting to be resurrected once again.
- Firebird Amanita Perfume Oil - Inspired by the notoriously deadly family of mushrooms that includes ominously named species like the Death Cap and the Destroying Angel, as well as the iconic (and purportedly psychedelic) red and white Amanita Muscaria/Fly Agaric, Amanita is a woodsy/earthy blend that evokes damp soil, wet leaves, gnarled roots... and something sinister sprouting from the the forest floor.
- PULP Fragrance Hallowed Ground Perfume Oil - A realistic atmospheric with a tasty twist. The damp soil of a misty churchyard married with notes of fudge-y dark chocolate, while precious resins of myrrh and frankincense mingle with black honey and rich golden amber. Slowly decaying cedarwood, traces of spongy moss and the damp air of a long closed-up chapel give a soft foundation for the other notes to rest on. With notes of rich soil, damp air, slowly decaying wood, black honey, dark chocolate, moss and a thread of precious resin incense smoke.
- Paranormal Perfumes Necromantia Perfume Oil - The dead of night. Wandering through damp, dark forests. Hooded figures and esoteric knowledge. The Necronomicon. With notes of damp earth misted with fog, fresh overturned dirt, burning frankincense and myrrh and dark patchouli.
